We're John Homer & George Milburn, The Boys out the Tyne. Boys! they cried, well OK, so we can't spell Buoys, but we're still bobbin up n down - lighting the way for yous lost ships n boats in the foggy Tyney night ; sleeping steamers, with your wailing horns, like haunted whale calls across the ocean depths of your dreams ; where Ahab stumps towards you along a minor quay, brushing past as you awake startled, then realise he's gone back to C. His bent crotchets left hanging from Dunston Staithes, dripping their semi's and demi's into the ripples of the grateful river below. Theme for a song maybe, or just the poetry of coaly jazz.

We've been writing songs and music themes like coaly jazz, for years now, performing first in pubs & clubs in Newcastle & Gateshead and continuing to write throughout our day-job careers. We recently moved back to our Tyne-soaked roots and resumed collaboration to develop the songs and music; recorded our first demo CD, Boys out the Tyne, at White Wolf Studios and more recently, at Cluny Studios - Savage Amusement. We've played various venues including Rothbury Street Fair, The Maggie Bank, The Artworks Gallery & The Holystone. Our song Oh Lads - see original lyrics in Songs - we decided to adapt as a Toon Army song collaborating with Wheelchair Steve - see www.ohlads.com

Hope you enjoy the live track - When the Night went Down recorded in Rothbury.
